BLUE LIGHT GRILL

Located in a storefront on Charlottesville's Downtown Mall, this restaurant was designed to heighten the thrill of being out at night. Taking cues from the effect moving figures and light create at night in bustling cities, the colors and materials used were meant to exaggerate the other-worldliness of those city scenes. Passing car lights, the moon, street lights, light onto streets from storefronts and apartments – these phenomenon appear to slow down time, thicken the air, and concentrate sounds.

Collaborators and craftpeople that contributed to this project are Martin Horn General Contractors, Mark Schuyler Lighting Design and Mike Christian from Monarch Concrete.
