KERNER DEE RESIDENCE

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
This house was designed for two creative energetic people who are an integral part of the city's art community. The landscape and interior spaces of this project are formed by a series of thick parallel walls capturing the programmatic spaces between them. The walls break periodically to connect larger public spaces that expand beyond the “grain”. The thick walls negotiate the topography to capture indoor and outdoor spaces, and combinations of interior and exterior program.

Craftspeople who contributed to this project include Artisan construction, Casey Concrete (retaining walls), Alexander Kitchin of Fine Concrete (interior concrete) and Jeff Jennings Landscape.
